The Tosh is feeder valley of the popular Parvati valley which leads to the Pin Parvati Pass the Tosh Nalla meets the Parvati River at Pulga coming from the north. The Tosh valley is initially narrow but as you go higher the valley starts to open up and you come across series of beautiful lush green meadows. At the head of Tosh glacier surrounded by the challenging peaks Papasura (6451 Mts.) After crossing Sara Umga Pass you descend in to Lahoul valley.

THE ITINERARY

Day 01: REPORT AT BASE CAMP KALATH, ( 5,580 Ft )
Forenoon:
Acclimatization trek to Parsha waterfall.
Afternoon: Activities/ Team building games etc. The day ends with the bonfire after dinner.

Day 02: KALATH – KASOL – GRAHAN (2350 Mts.) 4/5 Hrs
The walk is gradual climb from the Tosh village along the raging Tosh river. The trail passes through a very thick pine forest. Camping can be done between the boulders or one can get a refuge underneath the overhangs. Overnight camp at Budhaban.

Day-03: BUDHABAN – SHARAM THACH (3505 Mts.) – 5/6 hrs
The trek from Budhaban passes along the Pulga Nullah and this glacier is the source of this Nullah. One can have the close view of the Ali Ratni Tibba, located on the Pir Panjal Range from Losha Thatch. A long day’s walk as the path climbs from Budhaban to cross the treeline. It then continues over meadows and rhododendron clusters to the high altitude meadow at Sharam Thatch. Overnight camp at Sharam Thatch.

Day-04: SHARAM THATCH – SHAMSHI THATCH (3800 Mts.) – 4/5 hrs
An initial steep climb moves towards narrow path over patches of snow. The Tosh river continues its noisy course throughout. After a short descent, you arrive at Shamshi Thatch, beautifully set in a little bowl at the base of the valley. To the north is the Tosh Glacier, to the east the massive face of Kullu Makalu Peak. Overnight camp at Shamshi Thatch.

Day-05: AT SHAMSHI THACH
Acclimatization trek towards Animal Pass (4560 Mts.) and its hidden lake. 5 hrs up and down. Overnight camp at Shamshi Thatch

Day-06: SHAMSHI THACH – KUTA THACH (4100 Mts.)- 3/4 hrs
Climb to the snout of the Tosh Glacier and continue up on the path near the glacier to the small meadow at Kuta Thatch. Overnight camp at Kuta Thatch.

Day-06: SHAMSHI THACH – KUTA THACH (4100 Mts.)- 3/4 hrs

Day-07: KUTA THACH – SARA UMGA PASS ( 4700 Mts.) – PUTIRUNI (3800 Mts.)- 7/8 hrs
The day start early as an arduous climb is involved upto this high pass. One should be physically and mentally fit to undertake this trek because of the altitude. The pass offers commanding views towards Kullu Manali and Lauhal. One should not stay longer on the pass because of Chilly winds and should carefully climb down over the snow and on a moraine’s trek. It is altogether a hard descent upto Phutiruni located at the base of this high pass towards Lahaul side. Overnight camp at Putiruni.

Day-08: PHUTIRUNI – CHHOTA DHARA (3700m) – 6 hrs Drive from CHHOTA DHARA – MANALI -8 hrs
Start early to reach the road head before lunch time. Trail is gradual descent to Chhota Dhara. The route passes through the right bank of Chandra River. One can see the Bara-Shigri glacier one of the biggest glacier in Himachal Pradesh. The overall scenery of the Chandra Valley is mesmerizing. All peaks of the Chandra Bhaga range are now inhabited and the road from here goes towards Kunjum La or towards Manali and Keylong. Programme concludes

Accommodation in spacious and comfortable tents at base camp at Kalath ( 6 – 8 pax in a tent, ground bedding with mattresses, pillows and blankets ). There is a separate block of toilets and washrooms with running hot and cold water for male and female.

Accommodation in Alpine tents ( 4men/6men/8men ) during the trek in higher camps ( separate toilet tent facility is provided ).

Sleeping bags ( Holofill ), Rucksack, Trekking mats.

A variety of wholesome hygienic vegetarian meals.

All activities as per the itinerary.

Transportation/ transfers as per the itinerary.

Services of qualified instructors/ guides, cook, kitchen helper and mules/porters to carry camping equipment if logistics required.

Basic first aid kit .

Transportation to reach base camp and back to your destination. However, arrangements of travelling can be made on request.

Any accidental, emergency, travel or medical Insurance.

Any expenses of a personal nature.

Service tax as applicable.

Beverages or drinks of any sort, including soft drinks or bottled / mineral water.

Any charges to visit monument/ heritage buildings and photography or camera charges.

Any transportation charges or transfers which are not mentioned in the itinerary.

Any charges for a manual or helicopter evacuation, hospitalisation in case of a medical emergency or the like.

Any additional activities which are not mentioned in the itinerary.

PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICIES

(Cancellation request will only be accepted by email)

In case request for cancellation is received before 30 clear days or more in advance before the scheduled date of reporting, 80% of the advance taken will be refunded.

If the request for cancellation is received between 15 to 29 days, 50% of advance taken will be refunded.

No refund will be given, if the cancellation intimation is received less than 15 days before the reporting date.

PARTICIPANTS PLEASE NOTE

The Programme schedule can be changed due to unforeseen circumstances. In case of any illness during the expedition, the expenses for medical treatment, travel and porter etc. are to be borne by the concerned individual. Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited during the camp. Trek India Outdoors cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness or any unexpected events during the expedition. Primary medical facilities will be available wherever, possible. Participants will be presented with certificates only on successful completion of the expedition. During the expedition the decision of the Camp Director will be final and binding.

***Those who are on special medication should bring their own necessary medicines. People having Asthma, Blood Pressure, Heart Problems or any high altitude ailments are advised not to participate.
